Definition
Osteopathy is a manual therapy that belongs to alternative medicine. It’s a master for physiotherapists and doctors, although other health professionals can also study osteopathy.
The best-known technique of Osteopathy is the manipulation. However, Osteopathy covers many other techniques, including very gentle ones.
Mainly they are divided into 3 categories:
- Structural osteopathy
- Cranial osteopathy
- Visceral osteopathy
Interest in Osteopathy
For me the most interesting thing about Osteopathy is its clinical reasoning. So you can understand how different body systems interact with an injury. There are relationships from a distance, for example, that a right shoulder pain can be caused by a liver dysfunction. This opens the mind to understand the possible causes of an injury.
Summary:
It’s an integral treatment. By contemplating more injury mechanisms, there’s more probability to find out the right cause and treat you effectively.
